Cosmetic surgery is a common procedure with many positive outcomes for patients. However, it can also lead to serious complications. Patients are often not informed about the risks, which can cause a lot of stress. Surgery is not a simple procedure. There are inherent risks associated with any type of surgery. Some of these risks are higher than others, however.
Vicarious experience

Even though it might be difficult to talk about the situation, it is important that people don't take someone's reaction personally. They should maintain their daily routines, and contact family and friends.
Self-rated attractiveness
A recent study investigated the associations between self-rated physical attractiveness and psychological well-being among adolescents. Participants were asked to rate their own physical attractiveness and self-reported levels of suicidal ideation and self-harm. The results found that male adolescents rated themselves as more attractive than their female counterparts. However, the negative association between self-rated attraction and internalized distress was found in girls. These associations did not reach statistical significance in girls. They were related to self harm behavior and suicidal thoughts.
Religiousness
Researchers have found that people's religious beliefs can influence their decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. Research has shown that individuals who are more religious are less likely than those who are not to have cosmetic surgery. However, more research is needed to determine the relationship between religiousness and the risk of cosmetic surgery.
Household income
This study showed a strong correlation between household incomes as well as the risk of having cosmetic surgery. The findings suggest that people with higher household incomes are more likely undergo cosmetic surgery than those on lower incomes. The Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics was used to measure gross household income by the researchers. This method is widely accepted and has been proven to show health disparities between different socioeconomic groups.
Liquid silicone facial injections
Although liquid silicone injections are very popular for cosmetic surgery, there are some risks. Some patients might experience temporary swelling or bruising. Others might experience severe complications like inflammatory reactions. Additionally, liquid silicone injections could migrate into other parts of your body and cause permanent damage. In some cases, treatment may cause a heart attack.
Infections
Patients can get infected after cosmetic surgery. Although rare, infections can occur even when antibacterial agents are used. There are many microorganisms that can cause infections. They are usually caused by Staphylococci, streptococci or both. Non-tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTMs), however, have been reported. These infections are often difficult to detect using standard Gram staining. They can also be resistant to common antibacterial drugs.
